WOWZI team has successfully concluded a Training of Trainers
(ToT) program in Kampala, marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower
young women and youth with practical digital skills for economic growth. The
training is part of a broader upcoming project designed to equip young women in
business with competencies in digital marketing and influencer marketing,
enabling them to participate meaningfully in Uganda’s fast-growing digital
economy.
The recently concluded Training of Trainers was specifically
designed to build a pool of skilled facilitators who will, in turn, train other
trainers and creators across the country. This cascade approach ensures
sustainability, scalability, and wider reach as WOWZI prepares to roll out the
main youth-focused digital empowerment program.

Speaking during the training, WOWZI Co-founder & President Mike Otieno emphasized the critical role of technology-driven platforms in shaping the future of work and entrepreneurship. He described WOWZI as a “new-age tool that every young creator must have to excel,” noting that influencer marketing is no longer optional but a core component of modern brand communication and economic participation.
Mr. Otieno further called upon brands, development partners,
and like-minded organizations to join the WOWZI vision, highlighting the
platform’s potential to shape the future of digital marketing and influencer
marketing in Uganda. He reiterated WOWZI’s commitment to building a structured,
ethical, and data-driven creator ecosystem that benefits both brands and
creators.
Lead Program Trainer Hesborn Mataya expressed excitement at
the high level of interest, engagement, and curiosity demonstrated by
participants throughout the training. He noted that the enthusiasm from
learners was a strong indicator of the untapped creative potential within
Uganda’s youth.
“I am incredibly excited by the passion and curiosity we
have seen during this training,” Mataya shared. “I cannot wait to see what
creators in Uganda will build from this opportunity to learn, grow, and create
meaningful digital impact.”
The upcoming training program will focus on empowering young
women in business with hands-on skills in content creation, influencer
marketing strategy, digital branding, and monetization. By combining practical
training with access to the WOWZI platform, participants will be better
positioned to grow their businesses, collaborate with brands, and unlock new
income opportunities. As WOWZI continues to invest in capacity building and
ecosystem development, this initiative represents another important step toward
strengthening Uganda’s digital economy and nurturing the next generation of
creators, marketers, and entrepreneurs.
